Graham Eye Care

Comprehensive eye care in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Graham Eye Care is Eyepic’s Williamsburg practice, where ophthalmology, optometry and optical sit under one roof — so an eye exam, a contact lens fitting and a new pair of glasses can happen in a single visit.

More than a new prescription

Choosing an eye doctor should be about more than updating your glasses. At Graham Eye Care, patients across Williamsburg, East Williamsburg, Bushwick and Greenpoint get comprehensive vision care, advanced diagnostic imaging, contact lens fittings, eye disease management and a full optical department in one location.

A comprehensive eye exam does two jobs at once. Your eye doctor measures how clearly you see and checks the health of the eye itself — the retina, optic nerve, cornea and surrounding structures — because several eye conditions develop quietly, long before you notice a change in vision. Depending on what the exam shows, additional testing may be recommended.

Care built around how you actually use your eyes

Williamsburg runs on screens. Long days at a monitor followed by an evening on a phone produce a familiar pattern: tired eyes by mid-afternoon, intermittent blur, headaches, and the feeling that a prescription is slightly off. Some of that is refractive error. A lot of it is focusing fatigue or an unstable tear film — and neither is fixed by a stronger lens. Our practice also treats dry eye, eye allergies, contact lens discomfort and progressive nearsightedness in children, with recommendations based on your symptoms, eye health, lifestyle and vision goals.

Glasses, fitted and finished on site

For patients who need glasses, Graham Eye Care carries a broad selection of prescription eyewear and designer frames. Our optical team helps you match frames and lens options to your prescription, your working distance and your style. With an optical lab on the premises, many prescriptions are turned around quickly — exam, frame selection and finished glasses in one place.

Graham Eye Care FAQ

What services does Graham Eye Care offer?

Graham Eye Care offers comprehensive eye exams, prescription glasses, contact lens fittings, dry eye treatment, myopia management, allergy testing, and evaluation and management of eye disease.

Because ophthalmologists, optometrists and opticians work together in the same office, your eye doctor can recommend additional testing or care based on what the examination finds, without sending you elsewhere.

How often should I have an eye exam?

Most adults benefit from a comprehensive eye exam every one to two years, though your eye doctor may recommend a different schedule.

The right interval depends on your age, prescription, eye health, medical history and risk factors. Many patients are due for an exam even when nothing feels wrong, because some eye conditions progress before obvious symptoms appear.

Should I book an eye exam if my vision seems fine?

Yes. Clear vision does not mean the eyes are free of disease.

Glaucoma and early retinal changes, for example, can develop without affecting how sharply you see. Routine examinations let your eye doctor track both your vision and the health of your eyes over time, which makes small changes easier to catch.

I look at screens all day and my eyes are exhausted. Can you help?

Yes — screen-related eye strain is one of the most common reasons patients come to our Williamsburg practice.

Tired eyes, intermittent blur and end-of-day headaches can come from uncorrected refractive error, focusing or eye teaming difficulty, or a tear film that breaks down when you blink less at a monitor. These feel identical but are treated differently, so the exam starts by working out which one you have.

Can I get a contact lens exam at Graham Eye Care?

Yes. A contact lens exam covers both your prescription and the fit of the lens on your eye.

Your eye doctor will match you to a daily, bi-weekly or monthly lens based on comfort, fit and eye health. For patients with dry eyes or seasonal allergies, daily disposables are often the healthier choice. Contact lens prescriptions are separate from glasses prescriptions and require their own measurements.

Can I buy prescription glasses at Graham Eye Care?

Yes. The practice has a full optical department with prescription eyewear and designer frames.

Our opticians help you choose frames and lens options — single vision, progressive, blue light filtering, anti-reflective coatings — based on your prescription and how you spend your day. You are welcome to bring in a prescription from another provider.

How long does it take to get my prescription glasses?

Many prescriptions are completed quickly because there is an optical lab on the premises.

Turnaround depends on your prescription, the lens type you choose, the frame and product availability. Complex or specialty lenses take longer than standard single vision. Ask the optical team for a timeline when you place the order.

Does Graham Eye Care treat dry eye?

Yes. Dry eye is one of the practice’s specialties.

Symptoms include burning, irritation, redness, watering, a gritty sensation, or vision that fluctuates through the day. Tears have three layers — oil, water and mucin — and the right treatment depends on which layer is failing, which is why your eye doctor evaluates the cause before recommending a plan.

Can an eye exam detect eye disease?

Yes. A comprehensive exam evaluates far more than how clearly you see.

Your eye doctor examines the eye for signs of glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disease, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and other findings that may need monitoring or treatment. Some of these are detected years before they would affect vision.

Can diabetes affect my eyes?

Yes. Diabetes can damage the blood vessels of the retina, a condition called diabetic retinopathy.

Early diabetic retinopathy often causes no symptoms at all. Patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes should follow the schedule of comprehensive dilated eye examinations recommended by their eye doctor and primary care physician, and mention any recent change in blood sugar control at the visit.

What is myopia management, and who is it for?

Myopia management is treatment that slows the progression of nearsightedness in children, available at Graham Eye Care from age 7.

Nearsightedness that advances through childhood raises the long-term risk of retinal problems in adulthood, so the goal is not only clearer vision now but a lower final prescription later. Options may include specialty contact lenses, spectacle lens designs or prescribed drops, depending on the child’s eyes and daily routine.

What is the difference between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist?

An optometrist (OD) provides primary eye and vision care; an ophthalmologist (MD) is a physician who also performs eye surgery.

Optometrists examine eyes, prescribe glasses and contact lenses, and diagnose and manage many eye conditions. Ophthalmologists provide medical and surgical treatment of eye disease. Eyepic brings both, plus licensed opticians, into the same practice, so patients move between them without a referral to an outside office.

Does Graham Eye Care accept insurance?

Eyepic accepts many major vision plans and health insurance plans.

A routine exam for glasses or contacts is usually covered by a vision plan, while a medical eye exam — dry eye, glaucoma monitoring, an eye infection, diabetic evaluation — is billed to medical insurance. Many patients have both. Because participating providers and benefits vary, contact the practice before your appointment and our staff will confirm your coverage.

Which Brooklyn neighborhoods does Graham Eye Care serve?

The practice sits on the Graham Avenue corridor and serves Williamsburg, East Williamsburg, Bushwick and Greenpoint.

It is a short walk from the Graham Avenue L station, which makes it a straightforward stop for patients coming from anywhere along the L line in north Brooklyn.

Does Eyepic have other locations in New York?

Yes. Eyepic operates four practices across Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Alongside Graham Eye Care in Williamsburg, Eyepic runs Park Slope Eye Care, Flatbush Eye Care, and Harlem Eye Care in East Harlem. See all Eyepic locations.
